The language of instruction is 100% English; course titles appear in English in the curriculum and in OBS. Both first-year semesters are listed in full below; upper years are summarised.

Electives start in the third year. Each elective is 5 ECTS and each social elective is 2 ECTS. The pool changes every year, so no list is given here — find the current electives and all course descriptions in the Bologna Information Package.

• Vize ve finalMidterm and final

  Her derste en az bir dönem içi (vize, ödev, sunum) ve en az bir dönem sonu değerlendirmesi yapılır. Vize ile finalin yüzde ağırlığı derse göre değişir — oranı dersi veren öğretim elemanı belirler ve dönem başında ders izlencesinde ilan eder. Her dersin izlencesini ilk hafta oku.

  Every course has at least one in-term assessment (midterm, assignment, presentation) and at least one end-of-term assessment. The weighting of midterm and final varies by course — the instructor sets it and announces it in the course syllabus at the start of the semester. Read every syllabus in the first week.

  You take it for courses where you received F. The resit grade replaces the final exam grade. You may also sit the resit for courses you passed conditionally (C-, D). This right cannot be carried to the next semester.

  A make-up exam exists only for the midterm. Students who miss a midterm for a valid reason are given one; the instructor sets the date. There is no make-up for the final or the resit, and none for the make-up itself.

You may then take new courses in addition to your repeats, without exceeding the normal load. To regain good standing you must raise your cumulative GPA to at least 2.00 in the following semester.

The normal load is at least 30 and at most 40 ECTS per semester. Students with a GPA of 2.00 or above may increase their load with advisor approval, without exceeding 40 ECTS. The load cannot be changed in the first semester.

Yarıyıl sonu sınavına girebilmen için devam yükümlülüğünü sağlamış olman gerekir. Devam koşulunu sağlamayan öğrenci finale alınmaz ve o dersten NA notu alır. Devamsızlık payı zorunlu durumlar içindir — normalde derslere düzenli devam etmen beklenir.

You must meet the attendance requirement to sit the final exam. A student who fails to meet it cannot sit the final and receives NA for that course. The absence allowance is meant for unavoidable situations — regular attendance is expected.

You cannot withdraw from a course in the first year — withdrawal is not allowed for courses in the first two semesters of the curriculum. In later years: after the add/drop period, within the first seven weeks of the semester, with advisor recommendation and executive board approval — at most 1 course per semester and 2 courses in total. A withdrawn course is graded W and must be retaken.

The programme's 176 ECTS of required courses and 64 ECTS of electives are summarised in the curriculum tables above. For learning outcomes, prerequisites and content of each course see the Bologna Information Package.

Lisans programında normal öğrenim süresi 8 yarıyıl, azami süre 14 yarıyıldır. Yaz okulunda geçen süreler bu hesaba dâhil değildir.

The normal duration is 8 semesters and the maximum is 14 semesters. Time spent in summer school is not included.

Çift anadal, kayıtlı olduğun programa ek olarak ikinci bir lisans programını yürütmek demektir; tamamlarsan iki lisans diploması alırsın. Yan dal ise ikinci bir alanda sınırlı sayıda ders alıp sertifika almaktır — sertifika diploma yerine geçmez. A double major means running a second undergraduate programme alongside your own; complete it and you receive two diplomas. A minor means taking a limited set of courses in a second field and receiving a certificate — which does not replace a diploma. You cannot hold more than one double major, but you may combine one double major with one minor.

The application window runs from the start of the third to the start of the fifth semester. If you are not in the top 20% of your class you may still apply if you hold at least the programme's cut-off score for that year. Once admitted you take all courses of the second programme; where a course is common to both, you take the higher-credit version and it appears on both transcripts.

The credit arithmetic works like this: the 240 ECTS of each programme are completed separately — this is not a single 480-ECTS list. Courses that are common or equivalent across the two programmes count toward both: you take a shared course once and it counts in each. That overlap is what makes a double major feasible.

To continue, your main-programme GPA must stay at 3.00 or above. It may fall to 2.75 once; your right to continue is then suspended, and you may resume if you raise it above 3.00 with courses from your main programme. Fall below 3.00 a second time and your registration is cancelled. Graduating from the double major also requires at least 3.00, and the second diploma is not issued before you graduate from your main programme.

Başvuru penceresi daha geniştir: en erken üçüncü, en geç altıncı yarıyılın başı. Sınıf sıralaması şartı yoktur. Devam edebilmek için anadal ortalamanın 2,75 ve üzerinde kalması gerekir; tüm yan dal eğitimi boyunca bir defaya mahsus 2,50'ye kadar düşebilir. 2,50'nin altına düşersen programdan çıkarılırsın.

The window is wider: from the start of the third to the start of the sixth semester, with no class-ranking requirement. To continue, your main-programme GPA must stay at 2.75 or above; across the whole minor it may fall to 2.50 once. Below 2.50 you are removed from the programme.

Sertifikan, anadal programından mezun olma hakkını elde etmeden verilmez. Anadaldan mezun olup yan dalı bitiremediysen yönetim kurulu kararıyla en fazla iki yarıyıl ek süre tanınır. Yan dal öğrencileri başarı sıralamasına yalnızca anadal programında girer.

Your certificate is not issued before you qualify to graduate from your main programme. If you graduate from your main programme without finishing the minor, the executive board may grant you up to two extra semesters. Minor students are ranked only within their main programme.

You may apply to several programmes at once by ranking your preferences.

4. Başvuru, programı veren bölümün önerisi ve yönetim kurulu kararıyla kabul veya ret ile sonuçlanır.The application is accepted or rejected by an executive board decision, on the proposal of the department offering the programme.
5. Kabul edilirsen, tercih sıranı esas alarak yalnızca birine kayıt yaptırabilirsin ve ilk yarıyıldan itibaren kayıt yaptırman zorunludur.If accepted you may enrol in only one, following your preference order, and you must enrol from the first semester onwards.

İki önemli ayrıntı: yaz okulunda aldığın dersler ve notları, yaz okulunu izleyen güz başvurusunda değerlendirmeye alınmaz. Two details worth knowing: courses and grades from summer school are not taken into account in the autumn application that follows it. And if in the same semester you applied both for a transfer and for a double major or minor, an accepted transfer voids your other applications. You may leave the programme at your own request, and you are not required to retake courses you failed in it. Miss two consecutive semesters without taking leave and you lose your right to continue.

The result is valid for two years and you may take it only once per academic year.

Yurt dışında geçirdiğin süre normal öğrenim süresinden sayılır ve mezuniyet şartlarındaki "son iki yarıyıl KGTÜ'de" kuralının istisnasıdır. Öğrenim ücretini KGTÜ'ye ödemeye devam edersin, gittiğin kuruma ders ücreti ödemezsin; barınma, ulaşım, vize, sağlık sigortası ve kişisel harcamalar sana aittir. Time spent abroad counts toward your normal period of study and is the exception to the "last two semesters at KGTÜ" graduation rule. You keep paying tuition to KGTÜ and pay no course fees to the host institution; accommodation, travel, visa, health insurance and personal costs are yours. The Erasmus grant contributes to these. The programme is not only about taking courses — traineeship mobility abroad is also possible.

The exact day and time of each exam is prepared and announced separately by the department; it is shared on the university website and in the WhatsApp class groups once ready. The dates above give the exam windows.
